R.AGE Dodgeball Tournament

After more than a month of battling different colleges, we are finally in the Top 10 of the league!!

Last week we won against SEGi college second team and this week our opponent, Taylors Sri Hartamas decided to give us a walkover.
Now, should we be happy about this and skip the training together this week? (Kee Chai is going to kill me...haha)

But no, you shouldn't, or rather, you are not supposed to do that!

That is because the R.AGE Tournament is coming up real soon, to be specific, it is this weekend! 18th and 19th July will be the days that we will be able to showcase our talents in dodging and throwing at One Utama!

We are sending out 4 teams this time, and we hope that you can bring your friends there to show us support!

First up: Revolution, led by Kee Chai

Team Revolution Two: Led by the funny face Benji Wong

Third team: Team Tigers led by Raj

And Team Angkasa Condo (lame lor....) led by Kean Wai and Ah Kean (although he is not in the photo)

Bear in mind that this competition will be in a different format, as it will not be in the usual format of race to three, or rather the best of 3 out of 5 games. It will be in the official dodgeball game format whereby we will need to play in a full 10 minutes half, and within that 10 minutes, we have to win as many games as we can. Substitutions can be made, but only after each game. This can only mean that we need to have better stamina, (the reason why YOU BETTER DON'T SKIP TRAINING!) , better aiming skills and most importantly, more teamwork.

This competition will be held in a knock-out mode, that means that if you and your team had lost the first round, there will be no need for you to come back for the second round. Cruel, yes, but that's how it works.

We need as much support as we can for now, so please drag along your friends to give us the cheers and hugs that we probably need. =) If you are shy (which I doubt so), why not invite them through Facebook? We had already created an event for that, check out http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=132920773064&ref=mf

Transportation will not be provided that day, but if you are having difficulty finding transportation, please do not hesitate to let us know. Call up Kee Chai at 017 267 6909 or Bryan at 016 793 4120 and they will try their best to arrange the transportation for you. But please no last minute calls ok?

For more information, please check out http://rage.com.my/dodgeball/story.asp?file=/2009/7/2/dodgeball/20090701173544&sec=dodgeball .

It is time for us to go for glory people!!

The "Commandments" Rule book

This is the 2009 Dodgeball Rule Book which I hope everyone will at least take a look at it. New members please do take a look, and seniors, don't think that you had knew it all, cos' you don't. So just click on the link and read through it.

This is the guidebook that was posted by the Malaysian Association of Dodgeball (MAD) for the Campus Dodgeball League, but as all of us know by now, the rules kept changing with the times (well, according to the trend I supposed ), so whatever it is, take the rule book as the basic guideline and if you do have any enquiries, please do not hesitate to ask the seniors (provided that you find one who know most of the rules of course..)

Whatever it is, just read first. http://rage.com.my/dodgeball/forms/games&rules.pdf

EH.

One major upcoming activity Devil's Duke will do is something very different from just playing dodgeballs. As mentioned always, you will see Dodgeballs in Devil's Duke and on top of that, members live like a family.

So what's up this time?
Devil's Duke is proud to be a part of UCSI Earth Hour celebration event!

Yes, you read it right! Now, Devil's Duke has proven that they are good in dodgeball, creating spirits of sports, doing business, and this time, Save The Earth!

And what has it got to do with me?
Because your participation means that you join to put an effort to help in saving the world. And simply, you are the premise of the Earth so shouldn't you help to make a difference too?

Aiya, I just stay at home doesn't mean I don't love the Earth ma...
The Earth Hour is internationally organised to let people know, see and experience the changes of turning off the lights for sixty minutes. (This is also why Earth Hour is symbolised as 60.) Therefore, your participation in UCSI Earth Hour will let you taste the means of having the darkest night in UCSI South Wing Campus, for the first time in life! If you sit at home, you would probably be watching TV or sitting in front of your computer or reading a book... And whatever you do, it requires electricity which totally contradicts with what we're supporting now! So say you love The Earth just for the sake of saying it.

Ya lah...But...
In 2009, Malaysia has officially become one of the countries to take part in Earth Hour movement. Large companies and groups are also participating this historical event.

For the first time that Malaysia joins E.H., the first time UCSI becomes part of it, the first time Devil's Duke fully in support of it, the first time we're urging people to join us for E.H., the first time you shall mark the First-Time-In-My-Life-I-Join-These-First-Timers Event. If it doesn't make you want to go, it at least rhymes the Earth and you.

Okey la, Okey la! Stop nagging like Ex-President Evon Chong la! So what do you have at where and when again?

UCSI presents a dodgeball game to all students and you are certainly most welcome to join us for fun. It is F.O.C. No membership required!

Once again, it is at

UCSI South Wing

6.30PM

Note: For those who wants to know about Earth Hour Global/ Malaysia, click here. There are many ways that you could urge and spread the words to your friends. It's all in that site.

Dodge hard, Sell hard.

It wasn't very much like a Japanese cultural night until the campus was decorated with green bamboos and red cloth writing the name of booth.

Devil's Duke once again gave their very best in achiving Bunkasai night a successful one by selling cookies, toasts, drinks and beautiful ladies!
Opps, I mean, the ladies who sold the food.
And this made one of the reasons most guys would hang out there.

Despites facing competitions of booths that sold similar stuffs, the ladies ruled the night out simply for the fact that they worked through the day and stayed until closing time. And they were the ones who did preparations before Bunkasai Night.

Since the event, Devil's Duke gained an indirect bond between members. And members 99% of members enjoyed the event tho' there wasn't many activities. So here's a list of people that Devil's Duke would like to thank:

  • Animac Club for the wonderful experience
  • The team who planned, gathering all the raw materials ranging from waffles' paper bag to 'decorating themselves' on their hair like bunnies to promote Devil's Duke.
  • People who helped out at the booth, willingly or... "forcefully".
  • Customers who bought from us, willingly or "forcefully".
  • People who sat around, walk back and forth to make the booth looks more happening.
  • Passers-by who stopped by at our booth but decided not to buy anything from us.
  • Photographers.
  • Noise-makers.
  • Those that we forgot to mention in this list.

Devil's Duke, once again, appreciated your support and effort in making this successful event and leaving some sweet memories to our seniors who are leaving UCSI soon.

You have proven that we can play hard and work hard too!

*We'd really like to post up some funny pictures this time but the server doesn't allow. However, you can check it out the pics at FB or visit our group.

Counting down to Interfaculty League

So we have less than a week from now...

On 19/2/09 and 20/2/09,UCSI shall see one of the most interesting games happening in MPH at 6.30PM. The league is played by teams survived from Intrafaculty game mentioned in the previous post.
Devil's Duke, hereby, congratulate the teams and at the same time wishes them luck on the coming game.

As a sneak peek, here's a list of schedule and names of teams who will be playing on that day ;)

This table shows the a number where teams know when their turns will be and who their opponents are.

To make it clearer, there will be nine games played on day one.

The following teams will carry on playing on day two.

In case you don't know who are in the teams, just scroll down for the previous post written by President Evon Chong.
If you see your friends in the list, don't forget to come, join us and give them some moral support on this Thursday and Friday, 7PM. Only at MPH of UCSI.

"Dodging" in Unifest'09

15th January 2009 - While Unifest'09 created an awesome concert that rocked us students, it was also known as Club's Day during the daytime. Devils' Duke, wholeheartedly, took part in the event as well by setting up booth and hourly demonstrations to promote Dodgeball game.

To plan, it took the committee four hours to came with the conclusion of what to do for the Club's Day. Or put it this way. In fact, the three out of four hours were used on deciding the name of games, charges for games, and who should be the dodgers of the day. From discussion to forums to debates, committee almost turned the meeting to a market because everybody fought for the best way out for the sake of Devil's Duke. It was as though bombs and saucers were flying in the air. Havoc. Eventually, it was decided...

The game was named after President Evon Chong(a.k.a. Bobo) because committee thinks she deserves to get hit.

An alternate game for fun, in case people are not interested with Dodgeball. Nice drawings?

Thanks to the "Fantastic-Four Ahs". Bra stands for Bryan.

Here's a reward whether you win or lose. Thank you for playing!

One, Two, Dodgeball!

It's about aiming, hitting and of course, dodging a ball!

This is a game which doesn't need rackets, nets, or high budget maintenance playing equipments.

Yes, just you and a ball to dodge it all! Too easy to understand? Watch video below.

Because it is such an easy game, UCSI has officially set up a Dodgeball club nine months ago. The baby club is named Devils' Duke as it means ruler that roars. As a leader of this Devils 'Duke, President Evon Chong formed this club with less than twenty members and just like any other clubs, ninety percent of them were soon known as dead members. However, the remaining members were supportive enough to attend every training session.

Everyone was new, nobody really knew where to begin. So, the democratic team taught each other during practices. They thought of ways to enrich the club. They worked out the best strategy in the court. They play like a team and live like a family.

In the end of Year 2008, Devils' Duke entered the Campus Dodgeball'08. Here's one of the glorious moments back then. Enjoy.
